Lot of IO/reliability issues with Proxmox

I have a OVH server that I setup Proxmox on, I figured this will make it easier to backup an entire server instance in case of catastrophe instead of having to rebuild everything. As I can focus all on the VM, while the host will be a rather simple minimum config.

Twice now, I had a VM crash. First time is when I was testing snapshot capability. I got tons of IO related errors in dmesg on the guest and after the snapshot was done the file system went read only. When I reset it, it did not boot. I had to run a repair.

Second incident I was simply installing packages with apt and it locked right up. In the Proxmox interface it said "io error".

VM corrupt again. It's stuck "on" it won't even turn off.

What's going on? Is proxmox just not stable enough to use for a production environment or is this abnormal? How would I go about troubleshooting this?

Edit: So turns out OVH only allocates 20GB to the / drive.... ran out of disk space. This is what is causing my issues I think.

Next time I will choose the custom partitioning option and make sure the server install has sane settings. I got a mess to fix now. Probably end up pulling the VM to my home network then reinstalling the whole server through OVH control panel.

Instead of editing, this information should have been provided as a follow-up post, because:

1) it removes the thread from the list of "Zero Reply Threads".
2) it causes anyone who might have subscribed to get notified (which editing doesn't do).
