LFS kernel panic


completed LFS-7.2 and booted in host ubuntu 12.4 got kernel panic VFS:can't mount root file system i tried some steps with help of this forum and internet nothing works for me..

re-installed ly ubuntu partition and then made entry for LFS in grub.cfg file as did before then LFS booted properly but i didn't understand how booted .... how it works

You need to post details about what it is you did and the specific error message (which includes some lines before the error).

A VFS:can't mount root file system error most of the times point to a /etc/inittab file that isn't correct.
