So, basically all I need is chrome running with one of it's plugin in a virtualbox on my computer.

I need the linux to be really light on RAM and CPU as I need many of these set ups running at the same time.

I tried with tinycore but they have only chromium with witch my plugin doesn't work.

Any advice? Have been trying the whole day with no results

I would give antix or absolute linux a try. There are others but do not know about Chrome.

It's possible to reduce the footprint even more by starting a graphical session that only consists of one browser window, no desktop etc.

Search "linux kiosk" and "linux kiosk minimal lightweight".

Chrome may be available in some sort of snap or appimage if distro doesn't have I guess.

Modern vm's are pretty good at managing resources but there is a limit to over provision. Get a fully supported hardware to start.

OpenSuse used to have a build service where you could get jeos and the add in just enough to display wm and then your program with plugin.

Some network minimal installs can be configured and some full installers can be used or after install remove what isn't needed. Most distro's seem to install too much.

I once setup antiX (host) Puppy Bionic (guest) - Chrome (Google) can be installed in both - host & guest.
Fossapup is newer, but should be similar to Bionic. I have an AMD 1045T, 6GB DDR2 RAM.
I later replace antiX by MX. The rig works OK.
