I am running OpenSUSE 13 and I have Oracle VirtualBox 4.3.14 r95030 installed, but broken.
I can open VirtualBox Manager just fine. I cannot start or create new VMs. When I try I get this error message:
Quote:
Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Windows XP 1.
The virtual machine 'Windows XP 1' has terminated unexpectedly
during startup with exit code 1.
Details:
Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: Machine
Interface: IMachine {480cf695-2d8d-4256-9c7c-cce4184fa048}
Also this message comes up at the same time:
Quote:
Kernel driver not installed (rc=-1908)
The VirtualBox Linux kernel driver (vboxdrv) is either not loaded
or there is a permission problem with /dev/vboxdrv. Please
reinstall the kernel module by executing
'/ect/init.d/vboxdrv setup'
as root. If it is available in your distribution, you should
install the DKMS package first. This package keeps track of Linux
kernel changes and recompiles the vboxdrv kernel module if
necessary.
Code:
linux-5ym7:/home/eric # /ect/init.d/vboxdrv setup
bash: /ect/init.d/vboxdrv: No such file or directory
I have done my best to uninstall VirtualBox from my computer but the icon is still on my desktop and it still works. I have searched yast and removed anything related to VirtualBox. I have also searched rpm for it as well and I cannot find any reference to it, but it's there! When I installed it I tried both from yast and downloaded the rpm from virtualbox.org and I am not sure what is installed, but I cannot find it. I tried installing again with the rpm from virtualbox.org but the installation stops and says that the installation was aborted by the user.
Thanks for any help.
I would like to fix it. I'm just afraid to get it to work I will have to start with a clean slate.
Yes it did work before. Then I made some changes to my computer in haste to just accomplish a task without worrying about what I was doing. Now VirtualBox is broken.
I did use a package manager to install it. It would be whatever is default on OpenSUSE 13.
