I am looking into a project to:
- I have a external RRDNS service already
- Ubuntu based servers 14.04 ( lamp )
- Replicate the vm or the database/www between to geographic locations.
Some have said to use Glusterfs within these vm's on the remote site to replicate the needed files/databases to the secondary site.
In the beginning i was more concerned with parallel backups but since I can suffer a possible downtime for vm or file replication since it is a client server setup for digital signage I can schedule the downtime's.
But since I already take snapshots of the vm's I should be looking and file replication between the two nodes.
I am worried about replication of MySQL databases using Glusterfs..
Any incites, thoughts or rages are welcome.....
