ESXi 6.7 no internet to VM's

Hi all, I was hoping someone could shed some light my way please and help me.

I'm in the starting stages to building my home lab and learning all about virtualization so please go easy with me.. oh and networking is NOT my strong point by any means.

So I have VMware WS 14 pro running the following VM's:

DC1 - 192.168.20.10 - Domain controller (DNS + AD)
ESXi1 - 192.168.20.12 - Host 6.5
ESXi2 - 192.168.20.13 - Host 6.5
Vcenter - 192.168.20.11 - vSphere 6.7
FreeNas - 192.168.20.14 - iSCSI Storage 11.2 RC1

All of these are going through my NAT connection inside vmware network editor:

192.168.20.0/24 and 192.168.20.2 as the gateway.

Right so here goes.....

If I ssh onto my ESXi1 server I can ping the outside world (8.8.8.8) and all is fine. When I set up a small linux VM and try to enter in a static IP it just will not connect to the outside world.

I am totally aware that the above can consist of many of variables on my side. But if someone could be patient enough and simple go through the process of how to set up a quick and easy connection, I think I will be good to start moving onwards. I just cannot get that first step ya know?!?

Logging onto the ESXi gui I can see that my little test VM is in the VM Network port group under VLAN 0 and is green. This is connected to the physical adapter vmnic0 which is also green. I take it green is good? lol

Under that I can see that the Mgt Network port group under VLAN 0 has vmk0 as 192.168.20.12 (my esxi ip address) and that is also green.

So now I am baffled on what could be stopping a connection??? It is probably something very simple but as I said I am a newbie at this and I find it all good learning.

Thanks for taking the time to read the above.

Dave
