4. Oh, and I am going to a PLUG(Phoenix Linux Users Group) tomorrow, Should I tell them about us? Let them know where you are? so to speak. You guys should sign up on the PLUG website. At least that way I can show that its not just PHX YO!
Hi all, I went to my first Phoenix Linux Users Group Meeting last night. It was pretty cool. I was one of five or six of the thirty or so guys there in their 30's or 20's.
An older gentelmen Dennis, got up and did a presentation on the SCaLE conference that was recently going on in L.A. I was pretty cool. I liked it.
Another guy, Josh did a presentation on the finances of Open Source.
Last was a guy named Mike who did a quick real-time build of an application(Music database) with perl, WAY over my head, but very cool to see something get created right before my eyes. It will not be over my head forever.
Just thought that I would start to give you guys updates on what's happening up here in the valley.
For the folks asking about if there are other users in Tucson, check out the Tucson Free Unix Group - http://tfug.org they have a very active mailing list and meet in person twice a month at a local bar/grill (Shooters is the current site) for discussion and face-to-face time.
TFUG has been around for quite a long time and has a very knowledgeable group of helpful members. I post messages and show up from time-to-time - highly recommend checking them out!
I actually no longer live in Tucson. I have since migrated over to phoenix but I still am very active with Linux. Sadly I was not aware phoenix had its own Linux community so Ill have to look into that.
You might check the link below. I used to get a newsletter from this group several years ago. You can go to the 'Listserv' heading and sign up for the newletter if you want to try it. Also under Listserv is a link to archives and it is still active as of November, 2015.
