Atlanta Linux Users

I'm aware of ALE, and will be attending a LUG meeting at Georgia Tech soon, but I was wondering how many users we have from the Atlanta area here. I think it would be cool, not as a LUG per se, but to just have an informal meet and greet some time to just put a bit of a more personal spin on Linux and LinuxQuestions. Thoughts?

Hi Matir,

I live in the Atlanta area, Buckhead to be exact. I think it would be a good idea
to get together with other LQ users in the area to, as you said, put a more
personal spin on things. I'm not sure exactly where a good place to gather would
be though.

The reason I say that is that I'm 34 and would prefer a bar type atmosphere but
I realize that a lot of people here might not be of drinking age(or don't drink).
I have to be honest though, I don't find hanging out with a bunch of kids to be
time well spent(Although some are very mature and insightful, it's not the norm
in my experience).
That's just my thoughts. I reserve the right to be wrong.

Well, I don't know where you draw the line to 'kids', but I like to think I can hold my own (maturity wise) with most of the members here, but I'm (unfortunately) only 20.

Maybe "kids" was'nt the right word.

The way I see it, if your old enough to: fight for your country(and possibly die),
pay taxes, drive, vote, etc.... then your not what I would call a kid. Personal
responsibility goes a long way in making someone mature.

I still think it would be a good idea and I would just like to be able to have a cold
one while there.

Well, if we can find more users interested in something like this, I am certain we can find somewhere that caters to both sides of the 21-year-old barrier. Maybe somewhere with good pizza. :)

Thoughts from Baltimore...

I can't offer any possibilities of kinship, but a comment was made ("...unfortunately, I'm only 20.") that I couldn't help but seize upon. Unfortunately, I am 61. Wanna trade?

Matir 06-30-2005 05:30 PM

Lol, sorry. It was only "unfortunately" in reference to the other posters affinity for bars. :)
