zoneminder+usb camera


hello everyone. i am not sure if this is the correct place to open the thread, please let me know.

i do have zoneminder in raspbian (wheezy for raspberry pi). i do need to monitor a place that it is blind and i want to install a webcam and see i from my mobile.
i have installed zoneminder in the rpi and i have plugged the usb camera on it. it seems to get recongised from the system, but i am having issues to make it work. here is what i mean.

root@raspberrypi:~# zmu -d /dev/video0 -q -v > /tmp/webcam_settings
root@raspberrypi:~# more /tmp/webcam_settings
Error, failed to enumerate standard 0: Success
root@raspberrypi:~# lsusb

how do i fix that?

USB cams are always a bit dodgy with Linux, as each camera seems to have unique requirements and the vendor seldom provides a Linux driver for it.

A quick google search popped up this article that there is no longer a supported driver for this camera.

So keep looking, maybe you'll find one that works. Since you are using a Pi, you'll have to find one already compiled for ARM. If not you'll need the source and compile it yourself.

It would seem better to just buy a camera that already has support on the Pi.

P.S. I use "motion" on the Pi with internet cameras. Motion is lighter weight and no drivers needed for internet cams.

thanks for the reply. i thought of that, but i can take a picture with
fswebcam image.jpg it seems to work.
also in http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index...atibility_List the model is supported.
is there a workaround to my issue?

I guess if you can get an image, then the basis is there for a solution. Perhaps a ZM expert can point out the solution.
