zigbee usb dongle...
 

Hi all,

I am planning to integrate usb based zigbee dongle to one of my at91sam9263(ARM based) board running linux. Currently i am searching for a zigbee usb dongle which has good driver support on linux.

Does anyone integrated any usb based zigbee dongle to linux based devices or PC ?

How about telling us what a "zigbee dongle" does? There are lots of different hits in Google, so giving more information would help. Also, you don't say what version/distro of Linux, so without hardware and OS information, how can anyone give you any information?

Sorry for not giving much information. The zigbee dongle will connect via usb to the board and communicate with other zibee enabled devices. If the zigbee enabled pc can detect this zigbee dongle that would be sufficient for starting(We have already tried interfacing usb based WIFI with our board and as soons as i search wifi network in my laptop i will get my boards usb wifi dongle device populated in the list).

We are using 2.6.20 kernel in our custom board.

Zigbee is basically a simplified low powered wireless network for embedded devices i.e home automation, process control etc. Are you using a XBEE?

Support for some products is already included in the latest kernel but will depend on the chipset. http://ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

Gerneally ftdi chips are like usb to serial drivers if i am right....
I tried interfacing RFID(usb to serial based) by plugging in the RFID module in to usb host on PXA255 based board. By inserting the usbserial drivers and ftdio general drivers, a virtual comport will be created, through which we can communicate through RFID...

Are you mentioning that the same kind of modules or devices available for zigbee dongles...Can you please point me to the right usb dongle which is using ftdio chip.

BTW what kernel version are you running on the ARM board.
