well a phpmyadmin rpm install might have been installed any place on the system
have you looked in
/usr/bin
/usr/lib
/usr/share
-- it might be in all 3 folders
that is also one more reason i like to build all the software for the apache server that way i can install them ALL in ONE folder
and have you been able to start mysql ( from the command line ) mysql comes with a admin tool for adding tables and users .
------- edit ----------
i look at building / installing a server as a "software programming 201" class
you WILL need to study and learn AND your finale exam is your web site.

phpMA, I assume I need to copy any folders that were installed, into the webroot?
From MySQL:
Code:
[root@67439 ~]# mysql -uroot -p
Enter Password:
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
If you installed mysql-server with yum, then "service mysqld start". If it says service not found, then it probably isn't installed, not matter what you seem to think you've done, in which cased I refer you back to post #42 which have so far ignored.
