Yum in RHEL 4
I am trying to install yum in Red Hat Enterptise Linux 4
I dont want to change my distro as my RHN subscription has NOT expired I had a bunch of python dependancies but I managed to clear them up. but I cant figgure these ones out. this is the results when I try to install it: warning: yum-2.3.4-62.el4.at.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 66534c2b error: Failed dependencies: /etc/yum.conf is needed by yum-2.3.4-62.el4.at.i386 /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/libxml2.py is needed by yum-2.3.4-62.el4.at.i386 /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/rpm is needed by yum-2.3.4-62.el4.at.i386 I have a /etc/yum.conf file (but I have a feeling it is incomplete and I have no idea how to configure that) the other two I have no idea about. |
Make a backup copy of your existing /etc/yum.conf.
Have you looked here: yum.conf: http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat....i386.rpm.html libxml2.py: (looks like it is kernel dependent) http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat....i386.rpm.html rpm: http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat....i386.rpm.html You should also visit atrpms and import their public key. http://atrpms.net/ Good luck. |
WOOHOO
THANK YOU LINUXVB!!!
I was not able to install yum, or the target of my little crusade, vlc. but you pointing me at atrpms, led me to learn about apt-get, which in turn let me to synaptic... through synaptic, I have now been abloe to install VLC and its dependancies with no trouble at all, (thanks also to Dag Wieers awesme repository) so I am now forgetting yum, as I dont need it (though if I was willing to remove up2date from my system I could easily install that too useing apt-get)! thank you again! |
