yum configuration question - FC5

After a clean install of FC5 there is an issue with yum config. The issues relate to $releasever and $basearch. I believe $releasever is now correct with a symbolic link.

However $basearch is still not set. Where is this set? What is the correct contents for i386 FC5?

Thanks in advance,

I have not tried a clean install (i did a yum upgrade) so I am not sure what to do. The webpage I usually go to for questions related to FC is He has notes on setting up FC5, the yum section is here.
If you are only using the default repositories I do not know what would be wrong. If the first several lines of fedora-XXXX.repo look like

name=Fedora Core $releasever - $basearch

name=Fedora Extras $releasever - $basearch

Someone on the forum may be able to help, as they are all FC users.
