ymessenger install

I don't want to crosspost, but this may be more applicable here, than in the debian forum:

have installed debian from the Knoppix 3.4 CD:

I'm trying to install the Unix version of Yahoo Messenger, specifically the debian package, located at

Debian Messenger

following their instructions, I have downloaded the file and su, and then gave the following command:

dpkg -i ymessenger_1.0.4_1_i386.deb

This is the message I get:

dpkg -i ymessenger_1.0.4_1_i386.debSelecting previously deselected package ymessenger.(Reading database ... 105695 files and directories currently installed.)Unpacking ymessenger (from ymessenger_1.0.4_1_i386.deb) ...dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of ymessenger: ymessenger depends on libssl0.9.6; however: Package libssl0.9.6 is not installed.dpkg: error processing ymessenger (--install): dependency problems - leaving unconfiguredErrors were encountered while processing: ymessenger

I tried to check on libssl (apt-get install libssl) with the following:

Reading Package Lists... DoneBuilding Dependency Tree... DonePackage libssl is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, oris only available from another sourceE: Package libssl has no installation candidate

I have read other places to try openssl, and when I did an apt-cache search openssl, it shows this:

ibapache-mod-ssl - Strong cryptography (HTTPS support) for Apachelibssl0.9.7 - SSL shared librariesopenssl - Secure Socket Layer (SSL) binary and related cryptographic toolslibssl-dev - SSL development libraries, header files and documentationsslwrap - Simple TCP service encryption using TLS/SSL

I may be comparing apples to oranges, but what is needed to get this yahoo messenger installed??
(Gaim not working again).

Thanks

Jerry
