Yet another Xine Question, please...

Hi Everybody,

I feel like I have to apologize for even asking yet another Xine question, but this problem really confuses me.

I am using FC5 to try to play a DVD (encrypted commercial.) This worked fine with the 2.6.16-1.2080 kernel I was using. I just did a complete update with PUP. This updated dozens of programs and added a new kernel, 2.6.16-1.2096. Everything is fine (sound, etc.) except my previously working Xine and Mplayer will no longer play any DVD complaining of missing plugins. However, xine-check confirms they are all there with no errors. This is the results of xine-check:

Quote:
[ good ] found the player at /usr/bin/xine
[ good ] /usr/bin/xine is in your PATH
[ good ] found /usr/bin/xine-config in your PATH
[ good ] plugin directory /usr/lib64/xine/plugins/1.1.1 exists.
[ good ] found unknown plugin: xineplug_flac.so
[ good ] found input plugins
[ good ] found demux plugins
[ good ] found decoder plugins
[ good ] found video_out plugins
[ good ] found audio_out plugins
[ good ] skin directory /usr/share/xine/skins exists.
[ good ] found logo in /usr/share/xine/skins
[ good ] I even found some skins.
[ good ] /dev/cdrom points to /dev/hda
[ good ] /dev/dvd points to /dev/hda
[ good ] DMA is enabled for your DVD drive
[ good ] found xvinfo: X-Video Extension version 2.2
[ good ] your Xv extension supports YV12 overlays (improves MPEG performance)
[ good ] your Xv extension supports YUY2 overlays
[ good ] Xv ports: YUY2 YV12 UYVY I420 YUY2 YV12 UYVY I420
The one item that concerns me is the double link to /dev/hda. I doubt if this is the problem, but if anyone knows I would certainly appreciate your thoughts. I get the same errors when I try play an encrupted DVD that I did before I installed libdvdcess and libdvdread, which is installed in the proper places.

Any help very much appreciated.

Bob

there's nothing wrong with two symlinks to the same block device. if your dvd drive is also a cdrom drive then it's perfectly reasonable to let the device be named as both when used for their default locations.

Thanks for that. As it turns out, I was about to post an update to say all is well. Apparently, somehow, during the updates my libraries got scattered around. I did an updatedb, tried it again, and it works fine.

Thanks

Bob
