Yet another Player-Stage problem

I have a problem with player-stage. I installed the packages successfully after a few tries. I switched to /usr/local/share/player/config and i typed player simple.cfg ... according to a book a window is supposed to pop up. but nothing happens. it says this:
Registering driver

You might make better progress if you read the documentation.

Thanks a lot for replying. but i don't think that would help in any way. these documentations tell you how to install all the dependencies and the project. i have done it neatly. because i had no errors while i 'make'ed (made) player and stage. no errors while i ran it too. just that the window never opened (the one that was supposed to open according to the book, "How to use player/stage" by Jennifer Owen)!

I believe that you have started the server. The server is listening on port 6665 for a client to connect. Now you need to start a client and connect to that server. The server and client software probably can run on the same machine.
