yahoo rejects mail from my postfix server

my IP IS STATIC AND MY DNS IS DNSEXIT.COM For learning purposes have a postfix server on my desktop ubuntu pc.postfix is 2.5.5on sending a test email to my account on yahoo.com I get this delay=114046, delays=113735/0.11/310/0, dsn=4.0.0, status=deferred (host g.mx.mail.yahoo.com[209.191.118.103] refused to talk to me: 553 Mail from 72.234.247.141 not allowed - [80])

Have you checked to see if your IP is on any of the online blacklists? It sounds like Yahoo's servers think you are a spammer and are trying to waste your time by deferring your connection for a time before dropping it.

Nothing quite like sticking it to a spammer, but really stinks if you are on a black list.

Quite likely your reverse DNS isn't set up correctly, which is pretty common since your IP belongs to your ISP in most cases.

Quickest workaround is to relay through your ISP's smtp server, unless you have a particular reason not to. See relayhost parameter in main.cf

thanks but I'm trying to configure postfix for eventual installation on a permanent standalone server. also. when Isigned up with verizon for dsl service threy did not give me an email address. so they don't have an email server for me to relay through but the connection is fast and i like it. strange my ip number stays the same.
p.s. I have gone to spamhaus.org to remove my ip from their bl will see if this helps.
thanks for your help,
Miles

I think yahoo listens to port 587. so I need to change the outgoing port to 587. sorry I just posted this question as new thread.

That must be for relaying or similar. To receive mail for account holders, it would need to listen on port 25 that's the port servers use to communicate. Or am I missing something here?
