i had yahoo messenger installed on my machine.. but it wud never initialize so i cud never login..
i removed the files of messenger and then tried to reinstall thru rpm but it is saying that yahoo messenger is already installed.. though i have removed all files manually...
on trying to remove any other file thru rpm -e command, it says the package is not installed..
i m in a soup.please help.

I would dump the yahoo messenger all together and use gaim with the yahoo plugin. I had the same issues trying to use the yahoo messenger. Gaim works fine for me. Try it out.

Or you could try everybuddy - that's a good IM client, supporting MSN, Yahoo, AIM, ICQ .... If you want a text-only one, try centericq, it's got pretty much the same functions.
