xview and borders/background

Hello all, I have a question regarding Xview.. i have a jpeg which i convert to be a specific size using convert... I can also view the image no problem. but my pic's which are vertical end up with a white background.. .. My question is how do i change that background from the CLI? -border color with a color being black and that doesn't work.. any suggestions...
