Xserver does not start after yum update

Hi everybody!

My laptop is running fedora core 2. I just upgraded it using yum and I installed all the new packages, included kernel-2.6.9. Everything worked fine, but now if I boot the 2.6.9 kernel, the X server does not start, I see a black screen only. No problems if I boot with the old kernel.
Any hint??

Thanks in advance

not without some useful information.... are you using an nvidia / ati card? did you reinstall the drivers for X after the kernel upgrade? what are the errors that you get? what's at the end of /var/log/XFree86.0.log ?
