not really a question but some info:

on my computer, xscreensaver freezes up all input devices and the monitor. you can still ssh into the box, get content from it (web server works), cron jobs still run and it stays connected to the internet...but you cant USE the machine.

avoid xscreensaver i guess....i just turn the monitor off when i get up.

what version of xscreensaver are you running? i think it's up to 4.14 right now. also how long do you have the screensavers cycle for? i was told that it's good to have the screensaver cycle even if using only one screensaver that way it doesn't start to gobble up resources. can't really think of anything else. i didn't see your issue in any of the change logs on the xscreensaver site either.
