xscreensaver

I had been using xscreensaver in KDE as my screen saver application. I recently started to use the KDE screensaver slideshow instead. To get it to work, I had to disable xscreensaver in its settings. And the KDE screensaver is working fine. But whenever KDE starts on login, the xscreensaver program still pops up. I tried uninstalling xscreensaver, but then when KDE starts, an error message appears, saying it can't find xscreensaver.

Anybody know how to fix this?

Have a look in either a) kde's autostart directory
or b) your users ~/.xsession (or ~/.xinitrc) file

Cheers,

There's an option in xscreensaver to disable the splash screen at startup. Open xscreensaver (the graphic window) and go to Advanced - Diagnostics - Display Splash Screen at Startup.
