xorg & nemo using 100% cpu

Hi Folks,

I'm a born-again linux newb. By that I mean that I used to run Red Hat back in the day (1990s) with decent proficiency and have just recently come back to linux from evil Windows (I still have Windows 10 set up as a dual boot option in Ubuntu's grub menu, but haven't logged into it in a while).

I'm running Ubuntu 16.04 with Cinnamon desktop environment 3.2.8-1~xenial0 on an HP Envy x360 Laptop.

I've worked through some issues and got everything working with one exception: When I come back to my computer after not using it for a few hours the mouse lags a bit with almost a stutter. This caused me to check out what was using the cpu so I checked top and it showed xorg using around 50% cpu and nemo also around 50%.

Nemo appears to be the "file manager" like nautilus that cinnamon uses and for whatever reason nemo uses all available CPU power and the laptop heats up/gets very warm to the touch. If I type killall nemo both xorg and nemo go to 0 cpu, but then eventually I come back to the same problem like a memory leak.

Has anyone experienced this or have any idea what could be causing this?

Sorry that I can't solve your problem, but it appears that the problem is Nemo:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxmint/+bug/1203406

https://github.com/linuxmint/Cinnamon/issues/3796

Have a search for Nemo memory leak on the net to see if you can find something that you can execute from time to time to regain that memory. You could also see if you can upgrade Cinnamon and/or Nemo.
