xmule makes internet very slow on mandrake 10

Hi all,
I'm on a Mandrake 10.0 and using xMule 1.8.4 (latest stable).
My internet connection is getting very slow when using xMule.
Of course, I understand it's more or less normal, cause it's eating a bit of my bandwidth, but the monitors show me that I'm never using more than more or less 10 % with just xMule running.
Nevertheless, even for a ping the answer is very slow (like two or three seconds before the first answer comes back, and some sequences are lost afterwards). If I stop xMule, then the ping is normal agin (first answer immediate, and answers are regular.)
I checked all the threads about Mandrake's slow internet connections (ie mainly IPv6 and DNS config), but I guess that it's not the point (and I've tested it).
I'm going to try with the latest xMule (1.9.2) but I've been using it and it's crashing quite often.

Did you hear sthg about xMule problems ? Any fix ? Thanks

Boul

Ressource hungry

my experience with xmule in general is that it is very ressource hungry at large.

I suggest you use amule instead..It is also packaged in urmpi, much more stable, interface is better and you can't even tell it's running because it uses verry litle ressources. A lot less than emule on Windows too

Hi Steel_J,
Indeed, I thought about aMule,
and though it is very near from xMule, it seems a bit better.
Thanks for your help..

I've tried the latest (testing) version of xMule (1.9.2). It seems a bit unstable, mut not as hungry as the previous version was..
