XMMS Sound Conflict Error

I get an error when using the playlist at certain point. For example, when it is switching from one song to another it will come up with an error telling me the song is not able to be played because of a conflict error. If I click on the song again it will normally play and the error will come up again within the next few songs. I am not sure why the error comes up. I do not have any other programs that are using the sound card. It gets annoying because you want it to play through a playlist and it will come up with the error. I just tried getting the exact error message but can't get it. If you guys dont know what i'm talkking about I will post the exact error next time I get it.

Use ps xa | grep arts when it happens and see if the arts sound server is running if it is get the xmms-arts output plugin and use that for the sound output.

u can disable arts server in KDE ,and stop the sound device detect all from the start center
so xmms can work well both in K and G

When the error occurs open a console window (if using kde it is the clamshell icon on taskbar) and type the line in and hit the enter key it will show you output siimilar to this:
Code:
[06:53 PM Mon Dec 22: stephen @ ~]
>$ ps xa | grep arts
  763 ? S 2:04 artsd -F 10 -S 4096 -a alsa -d -b 16 -s 60 -m artsmessage -l 3 -f
 4935 pts/2 S 0:00 grep arts
You have two choices here the first is the actual arts process running the second is me having tried to find out if it is running. Now if you see arts running you can either kill 763 which is the number of the process arts process to kill it off or use the xmms-arts for the sound output and you will not have the problem of interference from the artsd.
