XMMS problem on RH9!

Hey guys!

i have very small problem, this is regarding with my xmms player, i tried everything reading FAQ and from some posted messages here i think i almost scanned every info on the net regarding this.

I was able to install my sound device on my RH9 with a big help from great guys here..THANKS!

Here it is! i can hear sound from winamp using WINE but i guess its good to have a native multimedia player for linux, i installed xmms (mpeg plugins, lot of rpms, source etc) but still cant hear sound from it and with my surprise everytime i play a file i can see the "slider" running too fast.

Please help me!..i beg! :-)...THANKS!

If you have kde installed, xmms might be trying to output via artsd, or if you have gnome, it might be trying to output via esd.

artsd and esd are both sound daemons that take over control of the /dev/dsp (audio output)

(From memory) If you go into xmms, right click to get the menu and go to preferences/options, the first tab will have the audio output method.

If you have artsd or esd running, select the relevant one, otherwise you'll want the oss or alsa output.

Hope this helps.

Darren.

also if you delete the ./xmms file from your home directory and startup xmms it should have worked. That was my fix.
