XMMS Problem

Hi all,

I just installed Lycoris build 127, and am having a problem with MP3 streams.

I've tried both wlsam.com and hannity.com and have the same problem with XMMS:

The streams sound like a chipmunk for exactly 22 seconds, and then stop dead. At which point there's nothing I can do but exit the program.

Any ideas on what the problem is and how I can fix it? Thanks!

Just guessing - does xmms really support streaming mp3? Is your connection fast enough for streaming? Xmms has a number of plugins, have you looked for a special streaming audio plugin? And last, if all else fails, there's an alpha version of winamp for linux available for masochists to try out.

XMMS does support streaming audio, but there are a few caveats. First, does it play local mp3 files okay? If not, make sure you have your sound output configured for the correct module. (Ala dsp, aRts, etc) and then retry it. Once they play locally, you should be able to stream NP.

Enjoy!

XMMS played those same streaming mp3's fine and dandy while running as part of the Knoppix 3.2 CD.

I'll try a local mp3 and see what happens. Thanks!
