XMMS plays music at twice the speed?!

using an alsa-driver-1.0.7rc1 xmms will recognize and play ogg and mp3, but it plays them faster than it should. I can play *.ogg just fine in ogg123, so I'm thinking it's a problem with xmms? I'm not sure...need help. I just updated to the newest xmms and I'm still having the same problem.

I've had this on Mandrake 8, and if I remember correctly it was doing that because
I had been messing with the sound server settings in Xmms. since you updated
it, you might want to switch settings to something else, close and restart it, then
set it back to what it was before. wild guess but it could help. it worked that time
for me when I had that circus going on in my box.
