xmms playlist and my file info

I was just wondering if anyone else has seen this before.

My playlist for xmms has all my songs, but some seem to be written in normally:

/storage/Music/Korn - All In The Family.mp3
/storage/Music/Korn - Children Of The Korn.mp3
/storage/Music/Korn - Dead Bodies Everywhere.mp3
/storage/Music/Korn - Falling Away From Me.mp3
/storage/Music/Korn - It's On.mp3
/storage/Music/Korn - Make Me Bad.mp3
/storage/Music/Korn - Shoots And Ladders.mp3

And some have a wierd line before each one:

#EXTINF:255,K - Otix - U Know The Name
/storage/Music/K-Otix - U Know The Name.mp3
#EXTINF:231,K - Otix - World Reknown
/storage/Music/K-Otix - World Reknown.mp3
#EXTINF:262,Kreators - No Ordinary Love Ft. Ed O.G..Cms
/storage/Music/Kreators - No Ordinary Love Ft Ed OGCms.mp3
#EXTINF:251,Kris Kross - Da Bomb
/storage/Music/Kris Kross - Da Bomb.mp3
#EXTINF:319,Last Emperor - Animalistics
/storage/Music/Last Emperor - Animalistics.mp3


Has anyone seen this before?

Did you use Winamp to create the playlist file?

The EXTINF looks like the EXTra INFormation that Winamp adds to playlists to make playlist files parse more quickly into Winamp. When you open this file into Winamp, it reads the EXTINF from the playlist file instead of reading the ID3 information from each MP3.
Note: This is also emulated by the streaming mp3 server "KPlaylist" and probably others, but it is primarily used by Winamp.

For example, the line:
"#EXTINF:255,K - Otix - U Know The Name"

Means that the song is 255 seconds long and that Winamp should display "K - Otix - U Know The Name" in the playlist editor.


To fix it, open the .m3u/.pls with your favorite text editor and delete all of the lines that contain EXTINF. All the .m3u/.pls needs is the path/filename of the media.

Ok, well, the list was made with xmms, but xmms is VERY similar to winamp, so I think I get the drift. A while back in windows, I used a file renamer program to make my mp3's more consistent, and I also erased all id2 tags and switched them all to id3, maybe xmms added those lines because the files themselves don't have tags. Thanks for shedding some light, I'm a happy man, cause I just burnded (yes, burnded) a cd from the good ol' black and white tty01 baby.

Yeah, so, Hot 100 is good. Esp. from a flask.

By the way, it was on my master playlist, so I'm not going through 4877 lines to clean up the file, I'll just live with it. :)

Yeah, XMMS is a lot like Winamp. In fact, on my Windows box at work, I use the XMMS default skin as my Winamp skin.
