XMMS MINIMISING Issues on Fedora 2

Ok... today I installed Fedora 2.

I go and use XMMS, install the MP3 plugin, all works fine.

However... for some reason when I minimise XMMS only the "Main Window" is minimised yet the equaliser and playlist stay on the screen! This is really annoying!

Anyone else experiencing this or have workarounds?

go and install the original xmms rpms............from their site..........(redhat and some other companies seem to think that messing with already operating software will make their OS better for some reason........)................hope this helps

I think this is a bug with kde and not xmms or fedora. Not sure if it has been fixed yet.

Ok... I removed all the XMMS packages from my system, removed 2 other dependancy files so that all could be removed. (KDEaddons and KDEnetwork).

So no XMMS on my machine at all.. or other xmmslibs, clear?

Hmm... downloaded the Fedora Core 1 RPM from XMMS (no fedora 2 yet) and installed it... it's made no difference. I am now considering installing an older versio n of XMMS, think its worth it?

I know its not a 2.6 kernel issue as I've got Mandrake 10 which uses the 2.6 kernel and no XMMS probs in that.

----------------------
Ok... I've installed version XMMS 1.2.7-1 and that's solved the minimise issue! Now just trying to find the XMMS alsa package for it!

---------------------

Ok forget that... I can't get any of the sound packages to install with it, ie. esd and so on... can't find an ALSA package either. Now what am I to do? lol.

If you are using kde 3.2 then you are probably wasting your time with older versions of xmms, and using the new xmms you will have to deal with the minimize issue until it is resolved. Like I said above, it is a bug with KDE.
I think that older versions of xmms won't work with new kde because of arts issues.

Joy. U'd have think a small issue like this would have been resolved simply because XMMS is such a popular MP3 player for the more well-known distro's.

Looks like it has been fixed. I think you need to patch kwin and recompile it or wait for next release of kde.

OK, good. Glad its been fixed! I've never installed a newer version of KDE before. How easy is it? I take it there'll be either RPM's or bin files for Fedora 2? Or will the RH update jobby have it as an update for me?

Ironica 05-25-2004 03:24 PM

Heh, only just noticed that. I downloaded xmms 1.2.10, it does it for me too. Just have to run it in a seperate desktop. I can't be bothered minimizing more than once!

Where is the patch? What do I have to do? I don't know how to solve this problem. Where is the patch?
