Sound works in X just fine. But when I try to play an MP3 in XMMS, it freezes. I am guessing I need to configure the output plugin in XMMS to point to the correct device, only I don't know what that is- My sound server is just set to "autodetect". I do have the aRTS server set to run when KDE starts. Do I need to install the aRTS plugin for XMMS?
Any help appreciated.
You should be able to set Arts as the output in XMMS, and that will let arts manage things.
Alternatively, you need to figure out if you have ALSA (recommended) or OSS as your sound module. ALSA also has OSS emulation.
Generally a misconfigured output plugin for XMMS results in an error message, though, not a crash.... it's pretty good about stuff like that.
