go into preferences, choose the MPEG Layer input plugin, click the configure button, then select the tab that says Streaming. check the two checkboxes on the bottom, "Enable Shout/Icecast title streaming," and "Enable Icecast Metadata UDP Channel."
whether you can then see the titles and artists and so on depends on the stream, but that should at least take care of shoutcast and icecast formats (which could be most places or only a few, for all i know about streaming, which is 0
).
