Xkb problem when changing options

I have an xkb problem. setxkbmap won't work. If I run
setxkbmap -layout us,ro -option grp:alt_shift_toggle it doesn;t do anything
If I press SHIFT + ALT nothing happens. I think that the problem is actually bigger than setxkbmap because I also tried to add those lines in XF86Config:

Option "XkbModule" "us,ro"
Option "XkbOption" "grp:alt_shift_toggle"

And it still doesn't do anything. My only documentation source was the file /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb/README.config so I would be very gratefull if somebody would be able to point me to a proper tutorial and some links related to xkb.
Thank you
