Xinet.d UDP problem

Hi all!

I'm trying to setup a small xinet.d server using UDP

This is my xinet-server in /etc/xinet.d/test
service test
{
socket_type = dgram
protocol = udp
wait = no
user = root
server = /bin/ls
server_args = -l /
log_on_success += USERID
log_on_failure += USERID
disable = no
}

I've added test as port 285 in /etc/services

If I run netstat -l I can see that Xinet.d is binding that port. But when I try to communicate with the server using:
# echo dd | nc -u localhost test
xinet is logging this:
file descriptor of service test has been closed
select reported EBADF but no bad file descriptors were found

If I change wait from no to yes I get nothing :-(

Hi,

In my experience, naming things as 'test' in a *nix environment can cause unexpected results.

It's a shot in the dark, but try using some other arbitrary name instead of 'test' on the off-chance it fixes your problem!
