xine won't play vcd

I can't play .mpg or .dat file that are in vcd format using xine
all other formats work.. i have w32codecs installed and also the latest libxine
i try to install xine-vcdx-/// rpm for mandrake but it says it interferes wiht libxine which i obviously can't delete.

The file is just on my hardrive not on a cd. and come in a bunch of other folders like svcd and segment and mpeg2.. the mpg file is in mpeg2 but when i play it all i see is green with the occasional coloured boxes in there and sound is just messed.. wrong codec is what it looks like to me
