Xine won't play files in KDE?!
I've been using Gnome for awhile and decided to try KDE out. I like KDE so far. But, I'm having trouble with Xine.
Xine worked just fine in Gnome, but when I try to play a file with Xine in KDE it errors out and doesn't play. THe first error I get is this: The stream name_of_file use an unsupported codec; Video Codec: MS MPEG-4 V3 (win32) (MP43) Start playback anyway? I say yes and get this error: A problem occur while loading a library or a decoder: divxc32.dll Strange...the same file(s) play just fine using the same application in Gnome. Any ideas on this? Tried the search, but haven't found a similar problem, not sure if Xine must be reinstalled in KDE or what? |

Well, I tried reinstalling it. Works fine in Gnome. Same error in KDE. Still stuck guys. If I could get Mplayer to work...that'd be one thing. |
hm...just a thought, though it doesn't fit with the error: have you managed to play *any* sound files in gnome? It could be that gnome is having trouble with your sound...

Well, Gnome is fine...but I'm sure you're referring to my KDE which is the problem. And, you know what...aside from the system default sound files...I don't think I have played any others.
I'll check into that. At least that's something to tackle...thanks! |
yeah that's always the one... you'll be using the wrong sound server. under kde you want to use the arts output.
