xine: Unable to play dvds or vcds

Hi,

I have installed the latest Fedora Redhad Linux release. I am trying to use xine to watch vcds or dvds. Unable to do so. Nothing happens.

Are there any required drivers, etc. that I am missing, or am I simply pushing the wrong buttons ?

Any help will be appreciated.

To watch encrypted DVDs, you definately should install libdvdcss since xine calls on it to get the encryption keys. You might need to recompile xine at the same time.

ya, definately get libdvdcss. Also proabably want to get/update the following
libdvdread
libdvdplay
libdvdnav (for menu support)
And your going to have to reconfigure and recompile xine. Make sure you reconfigure (the ./configure part).
You may also want to try MPlayer.
