xine sound playback issue

An odd thing happens when I'm watching movies in xine, that being, the sound playback quality is... oscillating.

I can hear sound just fine, and, through other applications (e.g. Xmms) sound does not exhibit the same symptoms. Also, xine does not do this for all movies. I believe it has something to do with the AC3 sound codec. I have this codec installed, or at least, I think I do.

Here is a directory listing of my codecs:

[frozen@FRoZiX /usr/lib/win32]$ ls
CtWbJpg.DLL msadp32.acm ubvmp4d.dll
LCodcCMP.dll msg711.acm ultimo.dll
QuickTime.qts msgsm32.acm vgpix32d.dll
QuickTimeEssentials.qtx huffyuv.dll msh261.drv vid_3ivX.xa
QuickTimeInternetExtras.qtx i263_32.drv msms001.vwp vivog723.acm iccvid.dll msnaudio.acm
alf2cd.acm icmw_32.dll msrle32.dll vp31vfw.dll
asusasv2.dll imaadp32.acm vp4vfw.dll
asusasvd.dll imc32.acm msvidc32.dll vssh264.dll
ativcr2.dll ir32_32.dll mvoiced.vwp vssh264core.dll
atrac3.acm ir41_32.dll nsrt2432.acm vssh264dec.dll ir50_32.dll pclepim1.dll vsslight.dll
avimszh.dll ivvideo.dll qdv.dll vsswlt.dll
avizlib.dll jp2avi.dll qpeg32.dll wma9dmod.dll
clrviddd.dll l3codeca.acm qtmlClient.dll wmadmod.dll rt32dcmp.dll wmspdmod.dll lhacm.acm
divx.dll m3jp2k32.dll sp5x_32.dll wmv9dmod.dll m3jpeg32.dll wmvdmod.dll
divxc32.dll mcdvd_32.dll mcmjpg32.dll tsccvid.dll mpg4c32.dll tssoft32.acm
What happens is, the sound has a rhythmic fluxuation, almost as though the sound itself is vibrating.

I haven't found a solution to this in the several months that I've endured it. I'm hoping someone else has an idea.
