XINE probs

[jon@localhost jon]$ rpm -i xine-0.9.8-4.i386.rpm
warning: xine-0.9.8-4.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID db42a60e
error: cannot get exclusive lock on /var/lib/rpm/Packages
error: cannot open Packages index using db3 - Operation not permitted (1)
error: cannot open Packages database in /var/lib/rpm
[jon@localhost jon]$

So I decided to just try with source...

Problems here too...
On attempt to install XINE (gxine-0.3.3)

It ended up telling me
configure: error: *** Please install xine-lib first ***

So... to satisfy its needs I tried to install (xine-lib-0.9.13) and....
make: *** [install-recursive] Error 1

Tried as many methods as possible... and tried giving as much info on this post as possible.

If more info is needed... just tell me what... and where....

For what it's worth... I also tried mplayer, but the problem with those RPM's were:
the mplayer-common RPM requires the mplayer package
the mplayer RPM requires the mplayer-common package (both packages rely on each other to be installed -- so it's impossible to get on your system!Q!!!!

When I try the --nodeps option its like saying rpm --help or something... it just prints out the help message

Hope you can help.
