I'm using Slackware 10.

I can't get my Xine install to play any video at all. I've tried removing and reinstalling using swaret. As well as installing from source (after uninstalling from swaret).

It wont play AVI or DVDs, I get audio but no video...just a blue screen.

Anyone know what I can do?

Maybe you need the codecs for specific video files. For playing dvd's I know that you have to install libdvdcss (please notice legal issues), libdvdnav, libdvdplay and stuff. Its a shame, I only have links to rpm resources... but google should help you.

Obs - The xine version that plays dvd's display a "dvd button" alongside with the other buttons, in the gui. When you click it, xine accesses the dvd device, no need to mount.

In the settings try changing the Video driver from auto to Xshm.
