Xine memory problems when playing video

I have downloaded and installed Xine successfully. However when ever I try and play a video file in GUI mode, my physical and swap memory gets eaten away where it gets to 1 or 2 % free ram, and then there is this massive swapping to the harddrive for like 20 or 30 mins.

I have 512 MEG of RAM, running Mandrake 8.1 2.4 kernel. I have 658MEG SWAP space.

I notice its only the GUI that causes it
Any suggestions?

Problem fixed

Simply add the following argument when running xine

xine -V xv

Hope your card can deal with xv extensions - I have a GeForce 3
