xine-lib install
I have tried searching for the answer, but I couldn't find one for my problem. If this question has been answered before, I haven't found it. So, if someone could help me or point me to the right direction, that would be awesome.
The problem: When I try to install xine-lib, and I do "make install," I get an error that says "/usr/lib/libSDL.so: no such file or directory" even though libSDL.so is there in that directory. I am using Mandriva 2006 on a Dell Latitude D600 laptop and I still somewhat a newbie... Thanks again |
You need to install SDL and then xine-lib. How exactly are you trying to install xine-lib? If you had used the software management tool in the Mandriva Control Center or done something like "urpmi xine-lib" as root from the command line, xine-lib and all dependent packages would have been automatically installed.

<sarcasm>Being the awesome newbie that I am</sarcasm>, I did have xinelib installed. However, I thought I'd upgrade the library. When I did, I got an error something of the sort that said I had two versions installed. So, I thought I'd just delete the old library. I think I've really messed some things up. SDL is installed; I installed when I first put Mandriva on my laptop. Running xine-check I get the following errors:
[OUCH!!] There are no input plugins. xine needs at least one input plugin, but none is installed. You should probably reinstall xine-lib... press <enter> to continue... [OUCH!!] There are no demux plugins. xine needs at least one demux plugin, but none is installed. You should probably reinstall xine-lib... press <enter> to continue... [OUCH!!] There are no decoder plugins. xine needs at least one decoder plugin, but none is installed. You should probably reinstall xine-lib... press <enter> to continue... [OUCH!!] There are no video_out plugins. xine needs at least one video_out plugin, but none is installed. You should probably reinstall xine-lib... press <enter> to continue... [OUCH!!] no skin directory (/usr/local/share/xine/skins) The skin-directory doesn't exist. xine-config claims that there is a skin directory at /usr/local/share/xine/skins. However, there is no such directory. You probably need to reinstall xine-ui. press <enter> to continue... In addition, I have deleted some files related to urpmi since I kept getting "urpmi locked" errors. Thank you for your time and attention. Is there anything else you may need to know to help? Brian |
