xine framerate


no matter what type of video file i play using Xine i get ~2-3 fps

the sound is fine

anyone have ideas on how to fix the framerate!?

btw: i've tried mplayer but when i try to install the rpm it says i need the common, so when i try to install that rpm it says it needs mplayer

edit: ok, finally got mplayer to work installing from the source

have you got dma enabled ?

hdparm -d1 /dev/hdX

where X is the appropriate cd

I am a little offended by your name, but oh well whatever. and here is a thing to check:

first off with mplayer you want to compile from source, trust me here

second you might be playing to a renderer that is bad, try
xine -V Xv or Xv or xv whatever it is, or XShm or any other one that is listed in "man xine" see if any work fast.

edit: yes, i've enabled dma on all my drives.

i've thrown out Xine in favor of mplayer
