Hi,
I have installed XINE on Fedora Core 2 using RPMs from freshrpms.net ment for FC2. While playing VCDs only sound is heared with a BLUE screen. Will it be usefull if I download source files from xinehq & install by compiling it?
Help me in dealing with this problem.
Yes .. I have experienced similar stuff on my RH8.0
You can try the following. While u hear the sound .. try to resize the player window and guess what .. u can c the movie too.
It sounds like you are missing some decoder libraries, I use to get this when trying to view .avi files
along with the base packages you will need the following to make sure you can view everything:
these will give you the ability to decode and play .mpg .mpeg .wmv .avi as well as video CD's (most use mpeg encoding)
libxine1-w32dll
w32codec-20040704-0.pm.0.i386.rpm
smpeg
libmpeg2
these files will give you the ability to play DVDs
libxine1-dvd
libdvdnav
libdvdread
libdvdcss-1.2.8.tar.gz (this one you will want to use the .tar.gz as I'v never seen a .rpm that works properly)
I Run SuSE 9.1 so all my resources are for SuSE but you should be able to find versions for FC2.
If anybody is using Mplayer installed using freshrpms on Fedora Core 2, please let me know if it works properly. As I want to shift from XINE to MPLAYER.
XINE is good to play *.dat video files as I dont know about MPLAYER.
Let me know friends.
