Question Xine and ASF, MOV,...

Hi there,

my Xine installation is unable to play some video formats:

* MOV : Sorenson Video 3 (SVQ3)
* ASF : Windows Media Video 8 (WMV2)

I have installed all Win32 codecs from Xine's web site but it is still unable to play those files.

Important Some .MOV files are played by Xine perfectly (I suppose their format is not Sorenson Video 3).

Does anyone know how to play such videos?

Thanks in advance,

ASF: if the w32codecs package doesn't work, then I don't know what will.

MOV: try installing the libquicktime package (

Smile I've got it!!!

Hi guys,

many thanks indeed.

Finally I have been able to watch those movies, but not using Xine.
I downloaded and installed ffmepg and ffplay. This is a command line program to watch videos. It is very fast and very light. I love it!!!.

For all interested in trying that software here are the urls:
