Ximian Evolution on MDK 9.2
 

I just upgraded my Mandrake 9.1 install to 9.2. Now my email software of choice, Evolution, has flipped out. I checked ximian.com and they do not yet support 9.2. I know I am a jackass for not checking this earlier. How do I make Evolution work? If I can't make it work I am in deep crap. I have ungodly numbers of emails in there and ximian won't import into kmail that I know of. When opening evolution it first tells me,

"g_module_open of '/usr/lib/evolution/1.4/components/libevolution-mail.so' failed with 'libcom_err_so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory'"

It then proceeds to give 2 other similar messages and then starts. The problem lies in that I can't get past the summary screen. My guess is that 9.2 either moved or no longer uses some of the files necessary for evolution to run. I need to get Evolution going again post haste. Thanks in advance.

If you did a fresh install of 9.2 then there is an update for Evolution that takes care of some issues. If you installed 9.2.1 there should be no problems. I have been using Evolution since October with 3 accounts set up and have had no problems.
It might also be a matter of importing the old emails. I had a problem reading old emails that I copied and pasted into my folders.
If you need help importing, let me know.
P.S. You did do a backup of your evolution folder, right?

Thanks for the fast reply. Where is the update for Evolution you refer to? Ximian's site is less than helpful. I am currently in the update process for Mdk...lots of bugfixes.

Have you already gone through the Mandrake Control Center Software Update option? If not, do that first and choose anything Evolution. If so, update your mirrors list with Contrib, Distribution, etc and go into the Software Install option and you should find Evolution in the list.
