Question Ximian and AntiAlias

Sirs,

Is there a way to have some nice and smooth fonts under Ximian Evolution instead of the present ugly pixel fonts?
I really like to have my screen readable and smooth.
Using:
SuSE 8.2
KDE 3.1.1

Thx,
Teddy

Yes.
You need to run version 1.4+ of evolution (That is, with gtk2 libraries)

SO

So I have 1.4
It is not anti-aliased. However I'll try to install GTK+-2.2.4. Should it help?
Thx,
Teddy

Well, I dont understand it.
I have 1.4.4 and it is all right.
Also, 1.4.4 requires you to have gtk2 installed, maybe your problem is in the font youre using.
Go to "tools->settings" menu, then to "Mail preferences" and try with a different font.

No did not work

I tried that already (to change the font) they all look messy.
Looks all gnome apps are like this: no antialias even if I turn it on inside gnome. Same story with gaim.
KDE apps are OK.
Just installed GTK 2.2.4 => same shit. I start to really hate this...

Well, I dont understand it. You are saying that you run with gtk+2, Evolution 1.4 and that have made sure that antialias is on, tried with different fonts and it doesnt change.
Sounds weird to me.

Try running this program on a terminal
gnome-font-properties
If you are still watching pixelized fonts, I have no idea what is going wrong.
Hopefully someone else will stop by.

Well looks SuSE 8.2 has some issues with this AA. I tried your last recommendation it did not work. I click AA on and in the subwindow they are pixelised still.
LOL
Thx anyway. This Linux is still a big BS.
