xgl and multiple desktops, only have one?

I just installed XGL on my gentoo machine and everything works fine. Well almost everything... I'm using KDE with it and I only have one desktop. When I try to select there to be four desktops by right clicking on the desktop background -> configure desktop -> multiple desktops, It just stays at one after I click "apply".

When I use the cube option, there sorta are four different desktops but they all have the same background and there's only one displayed in the "pager" on the kicker. Is there an option to configure in gconf-editor or something to make it have four desktops again? TIA

Apparently Compiz does not work 100% completely well with KDE.
