XFree86 update/rollback

I have a production PC running simulations on RH7.1 (XFree 4.0.3). We recently got ahold of an ATI FireGL 8800 card, the drivers for which need XFree 4.1 or 4.2. I can't afford for this thing to break the system.

The questions:

Is it possible to roll back to a previous ver of X after an update like this? If so, how? Can I just re-install 4.0.3?

Help is greatly appreciated? TIA!

Bob

If you have the rpms (on installation cd), you can. Just remember to make a backup copy of your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file (it's your current X configuration).
