does anyone know the purpose/benefit to the "ModeLine" settings in XF86Config? default XF86Config's I've seen in the past included them, afaik without a problem, but the section below from the 4.3.0 docs say they are optional - is there any reason to use/not use them?
I haven't tried commenting them out and restarting X as I don't know their use/effect.
any insight appreciated.
